Is Jesus God - The Name of God - Jehovah or Jesus.

Look at what Jesus told the disciples just before he ascended back to the Father.

Mt. 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Look at how the disciples baptized.

Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you,

in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 10:48 So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

Acts19:5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Jesus said,

John 14: 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

John 16: 24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. .. 26 In that day you will ask in my name.

Now, the name, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, is Jesus, in Hebrew, Yeshua. If you were baptized and in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit was said, that’s fine. It’s the same as saying in the name of Jesus.

John 17: 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me

Mt. 1: 20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Philippians 2: 9 Therefore God (the Father) exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

Hebrews 1: 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

Rev. 19:12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God

We’ve read that Jesus is the Word of God. So, here, it’s saying his name is Jesus. But we also see here that he has a name that no one but himself knows. Could this be referring back to Proverbs.

Proverbs 30: 4Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands?
Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name, and the name of his son?
Tell me if you know!

This may be why Jesus, when addressing the Pharisees, in referring back to when Moses asked God his name to tell the people, Jesus referred to him telling Moses to tell them, I AM sent you. John 8: 58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!”.

Rev. 17:14 They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”

Rev. 19:16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords.

Rev. 3: 11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. 12 The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name. 13 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

What is God’s new name. We’re told in chapter 19.

Rev. 19:13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.

Who are we told is the Word of God?

John 1: 14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

1 John 5:71 John 5: 7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

Mt. 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you,

in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Now, the name of God is Jesus, not Jehovah.

As I’ve said previously, we see that the Son, Jesus, existed in heaven with God the Father before he was conceived into the human body of the virgin Mary. We see in Colossians 1 verse 15 that Paul said that Jesus was the first born of all creation, not the first created, nor created. Jesus, the Son was born out of God the Father in the beginning. Jesus was born from the center of the being of God the Father. He is before all things. So, he can’t be an angel. We’ve seen that the Son was in God the Father. He existed with the Father from the beginning. He was with the Father in eternality past. The Son is eternal with the Father. All the scriptures from the Old as well as from the New Testament say that Jesus created everything, heaven as well. You see that God the Father created everything through Jesus. We see from the scriptures that Jesus is God, that the disciples called him their Lord and God.

We see Jesus is not ‘a’ god, he is God, the only begotten Son of God the Father. Jesus is ‘the Lord’, ‘Sovereign Lord’, Jehovah of the Old Testament.

Matthew 1: 23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" —which means, "God with us."

We can’t fully understand all this about God. We try to understand God from our human reasoning, we impose our thoughts, ideas and logic, things we relate to and understand on God.

God said,

Isaiah 55: 8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the LORD.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

We see from the scriptures that there is God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, three separate persons but they are one. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit eternally existed. They are one. The LORD, Jehovah, our God is one.

Duet. 6:  4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.

The LORD is yehoÌ‚vaÌ‚h yeh-ho-vaw' – Jehovah. God is 'ĕloÌ‚hı̂ym el-o-heem' used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God;

Jesus is the fullness of the Godhead.

Colossians 2: 9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, NIV

Colossians 2: 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. KJV

1 John 5: 7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

2 Cor. 13:14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

So, yes, the Bible tells us that Jesus is divine. Jesus said he was God.

It should be clear that there wouldn’t be anyone else to come as the Messiah or a prophet or messenger from God since Jesus was here, since Jesus is not only the only begotten Son of God, he is God. Since the creator of the universe himself came to earth, becoming God in a human body, his word would be the final word; there would be no need for another. We have his word as given to the Apostles in the New Testament of the Holy Bible as well as from the Old Testament writers that was confirmed by Jesus and the New Testament writers. There is no need for any new revelation. We have all we need; all that God wanted us to have in the Bible. While there may be prophecies, if it is a word from God, it will not contradict what we are told in the Bible. Any revelation we might receive will not contradict what we are told in the Bible. Any revelation we receive is our understanding of what was always there in the Bible. It’s the eyes of our understanding that has been opened. We are told in Daniel chapter 12 that in the last days knowledge will increase. The Bible is the Word of God.

Since Jesus, the creator, there would be no other way for salvation, no other way for us to get into heaven, to have eternal life. There would be only one Truth. John 1 verse 17, truth came through Jesus Christ. There would be no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Now, in English it’s Jesus. Acts 4: 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Jn. 14: 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Titus 2:13 while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

2 Cor. 13:14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
